Die Schnecke - Forum Kultur und Gesellschaft is an association from Idar-Oberstein that organizes socially critical and political cultural events.

Purpose of the association

The "Schnecke" was founded in 1981 in Idar-Oberstein. In the sense of Günter Grass, the club name is to be seen as a symbol for progress and its often too slow pace. The aim of the association is the organization and staging of political and cultural activities and activities. These include readings by authors, exhibitions, information and discussion evenings, etc. a. Laukhard sermon

Since 2010, the Schnecke has hosted the Laukhard sermon, an annual series of lectures in which well-known people from contemporary history comment on current political issues. The first sermon was given by Dr. Erhard Eppler held and had the topic "The Protestants and the State". The event is intended to commemorate the work of the enlightener FC Laukhardt , who gave his sermons in the Evangelical Church in Veitsrodt near Idar-Oberstein .
