The speech bubble

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The speech bubble is a German-language comic magazine that was published between 1978 and 2007 by Norbert Hethke Verlag . After Hethke's death (2007), the magazine has been published by Wiener Verlag Abenteuer pur! Since 2008 (since number 211) . headed by Gerhard Förster and Hans Stojetz . Förster, who previously worked as the magazine's author for many years, has been editor-in-chief since the publisher changed.

Comic Börse , which was designed as an exclusive sales list and of which a total of nine issues were published, can be seen as the forerunner of The Speech Bubble . The transition to The Speech Bubble took place with issue no. 10, which had a different name and concept. Up to No. 27, sales lists were enclosed with the magazine as loose inserts.

The focus of The Speech Bubble is secondary articles on the subject of comics , in particular on Walter Lehning Verlag and Hansrudi Wäscher . In addition, various classic comics are appearing in German for the first time in the magazine. The speech bubble was also Norbert Hethke Verlag's in-house magazine. Since the change of publisher and the end of Hethke Verlag (2007), the magazine no longer has this function.

After the change in the editor-in-chief, the concept of the magazine was changed slightly and the range of topics expanded. Under the subtitle “The wonderful world of classic comics”, the magazine is now increasingly aimed at readers who are interested in classic comics - especially from Europe. Although reports on the subject of Lehning / Wäscher are still being reported, the thematic focus has shifted.

Various comic series are examined in more detail in background articles and interviews. In the review section of the magazine, which bears the nostalgic and humorous title "Harry - Die Bunte Nostalgie Zeitung", new publications of classic comics are discussed in particular. The speech bubble also reports on nostalgic TV and novel book series.

The volume of the magazine used to be around 64 to 68 pages, since the change of publisher it has increased to around 80 pages. While the speech bubble used to contain black and white pages, it has been in color since 2008. The current sales price (January 2013) is 9.90 euros. A three-monthly publication cycle is aimed for, which, however, could not yet be adhered to with the first issues under the new management. The reason for this is the high workload of the editor-in-chief Gerhard Förster, who largely designs the speech bubble alone. The number 211 was published in March 2008, the 212 in September 2008, the 213 in December 2008, the 214 in May 2009. Since the number 240, the magazine has been published by BSV Verlag .
