The search for the wonderful colorful little bird is a children's book by Franz Fühmann , the 1960 first edition as volume 10 of the series The little trumpeter books in the children's book publisher Berlin has been released.

There is a specialty in the “Sonnenschein” children's home in the round town of Käsebrot, a wonderfully colorful little bird that has become a favorite of all children, as its lovely singing wakes them out of bed in the morning, the flowers around the home in all colors bloom and let the fountain gush happily. But suddenly everyone overslept. The children in the home are horrified to find that their little bird has been stolen from them. The two chief constables from the police who were summoned also have no advice. Together with the two girls Bärbel and Sonja and the imaginative Lutz they go on a search. In the neighboring village of Butterberg, you will find what you are looking for on the fairground, where a hype is taking place. After initially suspecting various innocent people, Lutz becomes impatient and continues the search on his own. He only realizes that he is putting himself in great danger when the magician Sassafraß and his wife take him prisoner. Fortunately, the police officers find out about the magician and free Lutz and the colorful little bird.
