The little trumpeter books
The Little Trumpeter Books was a children's book series from the children's book publisher Berlin for readers aged 8 and over. During the GDR era it was widespread and found in almost every child's room.
The books in the format 15 × 10.5 cm had a hard cardboard cover and cost - subsidized by the state - 1.75 marks or 2.40 marks for the double volume.
The name of the series goes back to Fritz Weineck , who was also known as " The Little Trumpeter " after the song of the same name about him . The story about this communist martyr was published as Volume 1 of the series. (Co) author of the first book was Gerhard Holtz-Baumert , who also wrote the anniversary volumes 100 and 200.

Remarks
- ↑ a b c d This volume number is not listed in the German National Library. According to the German National Library, volumes 187 to 191 were published in 1989. Volumes 192 to 195 show the year 1990 as the year of issue, although the information on volume 192 does not contain any information as to whether it belongs to this series. The final volume with the series number 200 bears the imprint note "1989". Such a number allocation practice is not uncommon for book series. Volumes with a higher number appear before volumes with a lower number of volumes for a variety of reasons. It can therefore be assumed that volumes 196 to 199 were not yet finished at the time of the turning point and that the series was discontinued and did not come onto the book market. Entries for these volume numbers are currently (May 2014) also not to be found in any internet platform for antiquarian book offers, although all other volumes from 1989 and 1990 as well as volume 200 are on offer.
