Reinhard Bernhof

Reinhard Bernhof (born June 6, 1940 in Breslau ) is a German poet and writer .

Life

Bernhof was born in Breslau. After fleeing from Silesia in 1945, he came to the Ruhr area. After attending school, he completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith in Duisburg from 1955 to 1958 . There he was one of the initiators of the Easter marches to Dortmund . In 1963 he moved to the GDR for family reasons . From 1965 to 1967 he studied at the "Johannes R. Becher" Institute for Literature in Leipzig and has since worked as a freelance writer. He published his first volume of poetry in 1973 under the title Die Kuckuckspfeife in Kinderbuchverlag Berlin . In 1974, the Aufbau-Verlag published a volume of poetry, What I know, Spain is much more ... Further poetry volumes in the Aufbau-Verlag: Landwechsel (1977), The attack of the ivy (1982), Leipzig - Hauptbahnhof (1986). In the universal library at Philipp Reclam jun. Leipzig was edited in 1987 by Bernhof of the anthology Daily Utopia . In 1977 the children's book series “Trumpeter Books included his story Ben sucht die Quelle . The Postreiter Verlag Halle ad Saale first published its stories about flight and expulsion Die Ameisenstraße (1988), which immediately received three additional editions and in 1990 was awarded the Lynx of the Month, No. 42 (DIE ZEIT). In 1990 the Pirckheimer-Gesellschaft eV Leipzig published his poem Siegersturz . In 1988/90 he and Sylvia Kabus published three issues of the illegal literary magazine Umweltblätter , which was re-published in autumn 2009 as a reprint by Leipziger Literaturverlag.

In 1989, Bernhof was one of the first five contacts and co-founders of the "New Forum" . In 1992, Bernhof was elected chairman of the Leipzig Writers' Association; at the same time he was a co-founder of the Leipzig Literature Office a. a. literary associations and participated in the First Alternative Book Fair in Leipzig in 1990. In 1993, Bernhof taught at Grinnell College in Iowa (USA).

He published essays on the Leipzig Revolution under the title The Leipzig Protocols in Halle (2006). From 2006 to 2015, Bernhof was the author of the Plöttner Verlag in Leipzig.
