Ralph Gruneberger

Ralph Grüneberger (born February 16, 1951 in Leipzig ) is a German writer .

Life

After completing a milling apprenticeship and various commercial activities, Ralph Grüneberger studied at the "Johannes R. Becher" literature institute in Leipzig (1978–1982). from 1990 to 1991 he completed a special course there. Grüneberger took part in numerous poetry festivals (Corfu, Paris, Struga). Since 1978 Ralph Grüneberger has published song texts, poetry, prose, essays, monographs, literary criticism, audio books and texts for children.

Since 1975 he initiated and organized several series of literary events: u. a. "Poetenladen" (1975–1977), "Dreieck: Prosa. Poetry. Music ”(1984–1992),“ Leipzig Summer Night of Poetry ”(1997–2006),“ Sächsischer Literaturfrühling ”(1998, 1999, 2001–2006), the“ 1. Paternoster reading of the world ”(2002–2005),“ Lehmanns Lyriknacht ”(2008 and 2009),“ Days of Poetry in Saxony ”(Leipzig, 2010, Erzgebirge, 2012, Zwickau 2015) and in cooperation with the Association for Funding of the Leipzig City Library e. V. the project “20 Years - 20 Books” (2010). Since 2013 he has headed the new series ZWIE SPRACHE, in which “two voices, two spellings, two temperaments” usually meet and give each other public attention.

Grüneberger publishes in literary magazines, on the radio and in anthologies. In addition, he is co-editor of poetry collections and curator of the exhibition “gegen den Strom. Writers and the Prague Spring in Leipzig ”. In 2003, together with Gerhard Pötzsch , he wrote the feature “The Saxon Sea” produced by MDR and RBB and, in 2007, worked with Gerhard Pötzsch on the documentary “In that persistent summer…” in addition to the exhibition theme , which was devoted to reading the reservoir in Leipzig .

Many of his poems have been translated into several languages. I.a. the editions of the Amsterdam and America poems were each published in two languages. Grüneberger's poems and lyrics set to music a. a. Reiner Bredemeyer , Walter Thomas Heyn and Maciej Żółtowski. Numerous artist books were created in close collaboration with the visual artists Sighard Gille, Bettina Haller, Karl-Georg Hirsch, Katrin Kunert and Solomon Wija.

Grüneberger has been a member of the PEN Center Germany since 2000 . Ralph Grüneberger has been the first chairman of the Society for Contemporary Poetry since 1996 . In this position, he has also been the editor of the magazine and poetry anthology Poesiealbum new since 2007 .
