Manfred Jendryschik
Manfred Jendryschik (born January 28, 1943 in Dessau ) is a German writer .
Life
Manfred Jendryschik is the son of an engineer . After graduating from high school , he worked as a transport worker and in the retail book trade . From 1962 to 1967 studied he German and art history at the University of Rostock . Then he was an editor at the Mitteldeutscher Verlag in Halle (Saale) . He has been a freelance writer since 1976 . From 1990 to 1996 he was the culture department of the city of Dessau .
Manfred Jendryschik was a member of the Dessau group of writing workers when he was still a schoolboy . His literary work consists mainly of short stories , poetry and essays .
The author was not part of the SED , but was not an opponent of socialism and not against the GDR set ; but he criticized the expatriation of the songwriter Wolf Biermann and the censorship of literature . In the 1980s he was spied on by the State Security , who put the OV "quill pen" against him, on suspicion of "political underground activity" and his contacts with other critical writers and West German journalists .
Manfred Jendryschik has been a member of the PEN Center Germany since 1996 . Since 2010 he has been co-editor of Edition Cornelius of the Projekt-Verlag Cornelius in Halle.
