The Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Dutch: Evangelisch-Lutherse Kerk in het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden ) was an Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Kingdom of the Netherlands . It existed from 1818 to 2004.

history

The first Lutheran congregations in the Netherlands were founded in the 16th century, but an overarching Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Kingdom of the Netherlands did not materialize until 1818. The city of Amsterdam is the center of Dutch Lutheranism to this day. Most Lutherans in the Netherlands are descended from people who most likely came into contact with German and / or Scandinavian merchants. The Lutheran Church has always remained rather small. On May 1, 2004, the church was incorporated into the Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN). The Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Kingdom of the Netherlands had around 14,000 members when it was absorbed into the PKN. At the end of 2001 the membership was 14,253.
