Reinhard Griebner

Reinhard Griebner (born May 13, 1952 in Görlitz ) is a German author and journalist.

Life

In 1970 Griebner passed his Abitur in Berlin and acquired a skilled worker certificate as a mechanical engineer. He then worked for a year as a trainee at the German TV broadcaster . From 1971 to 1975 he studied cultural studies and journalism at the University of Leipzig . From 1975 to 1981 he worked as an editor and author for television in the GDR, and for several years he hosted the Kulturmagazin program . He then left the institution and, following a two-year parental leave, worked as a freelance author until 1990; During this time, children's books, radio plays, stories and aphorisms were created.

After the political changes in the GDR, he returned to the German TV broadcaster and worked there as deputy editor-in-chief and head of the journalism department for a democratic renewal of the station. From 1992 to 2010 he worked in various positions - deputy editor-in-chief, broadcasting manager, arte representative, department head for culture, family programs , documentation and current affairs - for Ostdeutscher Rundfunk Brandenburg (ORB) and Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb). Since then he has devoted himself exclusively to writing again.

He remained connected to the cultural scene even during his work for public broadcasters; From 2002 to 2010 he was a member of the jury of the Gustav Heinemann Peace Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia , most recently as its chairman.

Griebner has been a freelance author since 2010.

Griebner lives in Berlin.
