Herbert Friedrich

Herbert Friedrich (born August 7, 1926 in Zschachwitz ) is a German writer .

Life

Herbert Friedrich became known in the GDR as an author of books for children and young people, also as a radio play author and narrator .

As the son of an asbestos weaver, Herbert Friedrich attended primary school in Dresden from 1941 to 1944 at the teacher training institute in Frankenberg . From 1944 a Wehrmacht soldier, from 1945 to 1949 he was a Soviet prisoner of war in Central Asia. In 1950 he was initially a laborer, then a teacher in Lohmen / Pirna and in Dresden. In 1957 he passed the state examination and studied from 1958 to 1961 at the literature institute "Johannes R. Becher" in Leipzig . Friedrich has been working as a freelance writer in Dresden since 1961. In 1966 he received the Martin Andersen Nexö Art Prize of the City of Dresden and in 1973 the Alex Wedding Prize .
