Otto Werner Foerster

Otto Werner Förster (born May 2, 1950 in Meißen ) is a German Germanist , writer and publisher .

Life

Born in Meißen, Otto Werner Förster moved with his parents to the Federal Republic in 1957, and the family returned to the GDR in 1960. After finishing school, he completed vocational training as a gardener, worked as a transport worker in a Leipzig foundry and did basic military service with the NVA.

He completed his German studies at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig with a diploma (on Ulrich von Hutten ). 1980 Förster obtained his doctorate as Dr. phil. with a dissertation on science fiction literature in the GDR and worked as a research assistant until 1985. In 1985 he quit Karl Marx University and switched to a freelance position as a writer and journalist, including a fee as a literary editor for the Leipziger Volkszeitung (1987 to 1988).

In January 1990 the writers Ingo Schulze , Eckhart Reinhold and Otto Werner Förster founded the "Altenburger Wochenblatt". Förster was its editor-in-chief until 1991 and co-owner of the advertising agency word until 1997 (including Köstritzer beer newspaper, radio spots, slogan: The black with the blonde soul ). In 1998 Otto Werner Förster founded Taurus-Verlag Leipzig. Förster has been a member of the Johann-Gottfried-Seume-Gesellschaft zu Leipzig eV since 1999 and of the Leipzig History Association for several years .
