E. Reinhold Verlag

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The E. Reinhold Verlag was the first free publishing house to be founded in Altenburg during the thaw of the fall. Since then he has been the leading publisher in the field of Altenburg regional literature. In the meantime, Central German topics have increasingly found their way into the publishing program. The publisher publishes the new series of workbooks of the Thuringian State Office for Monument Preservation and Archeology and cooperates with other partners such as the Altenburg District Office, the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen, the Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk , the Thüringen Tourismus GmbH or the History and Antiquity Research Society of the Easter country .

Publishing history

On January 26, 1990, Eckhart Reinhold (1951–2005), who had previously worked for a long time as an editor at Urania Verlag Leipzig , founded his own publishing house, E. Reinhold Verlag, in his home town of Altenburg. Like so many other developments in the thawing period of the time of reunification , this establishment was only possible under the changing political conditions - it was the first independent publishing company in what was then the Leipzig district to be founded under the new political framework.

Initially, the publishing house was intended exclusively for the publication of the Altenburger Wochenblatt, the city's first independent newspaper after the Second World War , but Eckhart Reinhold soon began to publish books as well. Altenburg regional literature had only been published to a limited extent during the GDR era, and so a great abundance of material and an equally great hunger for reading met. With the Altenburger history and house calendar, Eckhart Reinhold and the History and Antiquity Research Society of the Osterlandes zu Altenburg e. V. is a new yearbook rich in tradition for the Altenburger Land - the first year was recorded for 1646, the first year of the new series was that for 1992. In the following years, numerous other publications came onto the market, among them the large edition of watercolors and Autographs by the Altenburg chronicler Christian Friedrich Schadewitz, which were created in collaboration with the Altenburg Castle and Playing Cards Museum, deserve special mention.

After Eckhart Reinhold left and after a phase in which Albrecht Reinhold (Schnuphase'sche Buchhandlung) owned the publishing house, Klaus-Jürgen Kamprad acquired E. Reinhold Verlag in 1999 and incorporated it into the Kamprad publishing group. Under his leadership, the publisher's profile was expanded more and more towards Central German topics. New partners such as the Thuringian State Office for Monument Preservation and Archeology or the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen made it possible to publish numerous nationally important publications, for example the series “Cultural Monuments in Thuringia” as part of the monument topography of the Federal Republic of Germany . But the bond with the Altenburg region was also retained, as the exhibition catalog series “Göpfersdorfer Kunstblätter” shows.
