Holda Schiller
Holda Schiller , b. Holda Stumpp , (born February 13, 1923 in Pavlovka , Bessarabia , † December 15, 2015 ) was a German writer and translator .
Life
Holda Schiller was the daughter of a water scoop who died in 1933 at the age of 36 and left six children behind. She attended the Romanian elementary school in the German village of Pavlovka. In 1940 she and her family were transferred to German resettlement camps as part of the Heim ins Reich resettlement campaign. Holda Schiller trained as a nurse there and worked in the Langenbielau hospital . In 1942, she was with her family in Warthegau , Kreis Posen settled. After fleeing the Red Army, the family came to Deetz / Havel , where Holda Schiller worked on an orchard and also took private lessons. She attended a course for new teachers in Wittenberge and worked from 1947 to 1958 as a teacher in Lehnin , Radebeul and Leipzig . From 1960 to 1983 she worked as a freelance interpreter and translator, and was licensed as a negotiation and conference interpreter as well as translating the Romanian language for courts and notaries.
In 1966, encouraged by her own children and the children at school, she began publishing smaller children's books. Only when she was retired did she find time for bigger projects.
She lived in Leipzig and was the mother of two children. She passed away on December 15, 2015.
