Harry Gerlach

Harry Gerlach (born March 8, 1927 in Albrechts ; † March 10, 1995 ) was a German writer and local history researcher.

Life

At the beginning of the 1950s he made his first attempts at writing in the Young Authors Working Group at the Culture Department of the Suhl District Council . In 1953 he took part in the competition of lay writers in the Suhl district and was one of the award-winning senders with his short story 1813 - The Year of Liberation . He practiced his teaching profession at different types of schools in Geisa , from 1959 at an auxiliary school. His subjects were German and history . In December 1965 he moved to Bad Salzungen . Most recently, in the 1980s, he was a teacher in Helmershausen (Rhönblick). The father of four, who wrote at the same time, produced several children's books and publications on the local and regional history of Thuringia . He was a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany .
