Amaurochaete is agenus of slime mold fromthe Stemonitidae family . It comprises four types and can be found almost worldwide.

features

The fruiting bodies are cushion-shaped to hemispherical or flat-shaped aethalia . The membranous hypothallus is transparent to dark. The peridium forms an early decaying, thin bark ( cortex ) on the surface of the aethalium .

It is not clear whether the species have a scalp or a pseudocapillitium. It extends from the base to the edge of the aethalium, is bush-shaped in numerous branches of various thicknesses or branches in a reticulate or wavy hair-like manner. The spores are black in bulk.

distribution

The genus is distributed almost worldwide, finds are only missing from sub-Saharan Africa and South America. Despite the wide distribution, the species are rarely found. All types can also be found in German-speaking countries. They colonize living and dead wood, only Amaurochaete trechispora is found in peat moss .
