The Myxomycetes

Die Myxomyceten (full title: Die Myxomyceten Germany and the neighboring Alpine region with special reference to Austria ) is one of the most important reference works for slime molds ( Myxomycetes ); it is considered a standard work. The authors are Hermann Neubert , Wolfgang Nowotny and Karlheinz Baumann as well as Heidi Marx , who collaborated on the second and third volumes. It was self-published between 1993 and 2000.

The structure follows taxonomic groups, for which descriptions and identification keys are included. In addition to the descriptions of the species, numerous illustrations and micro drawings as well as some schematic representations of the sporocarp have been added. For the determination, dichotomous keys are available for most genera; synoptic keys also exist for larger genera. In addition, the appendix contains drawings of spores and SEM images of spores, capillitium and sporocarps that are juxtaposed .
