Amorphea is a taxon that belongs to the eukaryotes ( living things with a nucleus ). In addition to a few smaller groups, the crown group includes the two super-groups Amoebozoa as a large group of single-celled organisms and the Opisthokonta , which include all multicellular animals and fungi .
definition
The taxon was defined purely phylogenetically in 2012 . It is delimited as the smallest common clade around the three recent species human ( Homo sapiens Linnaeus 1758) and Neurospora crassa Shear & Dodge 1927 as representatives of the Opisthokonta and Dictyostelium discoideum Raper 1935 for the Amoebozoa .
In return, it excludes the following clades from their respective representatives by definition :
- Bigelowiella natans Moestrup & Sengco 2001 as representatives of Rhizaria
- Tetrahymena thermophila Nanney & McCoy 1976 for the alveolata
- Thalassiosira pseudonana Cleve 1873 as a stramenopile
- Arabidopsis thaliana (Linnaeus) Heynhold 1842 for the Archaeplastida including the plants
- Euglena gracilis Klebs 1883 for the Excavata
- Emiliania huxleyi (Lohmann) Hay & Mohler in Hay et al. 1967 for the haptophyta
Taxonomy
The taxon is almost congruent in its scope with the Unikonta already described in 2005 , for which, in contrast to the purely phylogenetically defined Amorphea, a flagellum was also defined as an original, common characteristic. Since the name refers to this characteristic, which is however considered to be most likely incorrect, Sina Adl et al. a new name was chosen in their 2012 revision of the systematics of eukaryotes. The name, which comes from the Greek, literally means without form and refers to the cells that are shapeless in most species.
Amorphea contains the following groups:
- Opisthokonta (by definition)
- Amoebozoa (by definition)
- Apusomonadida ( incertae sedis )
- Breviatea (including Subulatomonas ) (incertae sedis)
- Ancyromonadida (incertae sedis)
- Mantamonas (incertae sedis)
