Jan Flieger

Jan Flieger (born December 10, 1941 in Berlin ) is a German children's and youth book and crime writer .

Life

He holds a degree in industrial engineering and was assistant plant manager for a Leipzig industrial company for seventeen years from 1973 and, after reunification, from 1992 spokesman for Telekom AG in Leipzig. He has been a freelance writer since 2000.

He has been writing children's books since 1981, including children's crime fiction, and since 1985 adult crime fiction as well. Even before the fall of the Wall , his books appeared in West Germany. In 1988 he was awarded the Theodor Körner Prize . Since 1990 he has been a member of the Syndikat , the association of German-speaking crime writers. His first detective novel "Der Sog" was filmed in the GDR television series "The Public Prosecutor has the Word" under the title "Everything in vain".

In 1992 he organized the first “Saxon Crime Days” together with Steffen Mohr .
