The rediscovery of the crop hemp ( The Emperor Wears No Clothes ) is a book by the American author Jack Herer .

In 1973, on the advice of his friend Ed Adair, Herer began compiling brief information on cannabis and its many uses. Twelve years later, in 1985, this list was published as The Emperor Wears No Clothes . The book is now in its eleventh edition and is often consulted in cannabis legalization efforts. The book is supported by HEMP (USA), Hanf Haus ( Germany ), Sensi Seeds / Hash Marijuana Museum ( Netherlands ) and The Texas Hemp Campaign (USA). Herer is offering $ 100,000 to those who can refute their claims. The quote on the back cover reads:

“When all fossil fuels and their derivatives, as well as trees for paper and processing, become banned substances in the sense of protecting the earth, reducing the greenhouse effect and stopping deforestation ; then there is ultimately only one known annual renewal resource in nature that is able to provide the majority of the needed quantities of paper and textiles . Meet all of the world's transportation, industrial and domestic energy demands, while at the same time pollution is decreasing, the earth is being rebuilt and the atmosphere is being cleared, all at the same time ... and this material is - as it has been all along - cannabis hemp ... marijuana ! "

The original title of the book refers to Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Emperor's New Clothes . The author uses this story as an allegory for the criminalization of cannabis.
