The big question

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the big question of Wolf Erlbruch is not a picture story in the strict sense, but rather a kind of philosophical question-and-answer game, the question is not expressly provided. It reads: Why am I in the world?

Twenty-one pictures give 21 answers, from different perspectives , resulting in a picture of reality that the little boy on the cover himself could not yet grasp. Possible answers are given by other family members, different animals and representatives of different professions. But there are also answers of the number 3, of death ("You are in the world to love life") and of the stone ("You are there to be there"). Even the first sex education takes place ("Says the father: Because mom and I love each other").

At the end there are lined pages on which the child can write down their own answers.
