Dieter Lau (agricultural scientist)

Dieter Lau (born February 2, 1939 ) is a German agricultural scientist .

After studying agriculture and studying at the Humboldt University in Berlin , he worked in the Research Center for Grain Breeding Hadmersleben , which later became the breeding division of the Institute for Grain Research Bernburg -Hadmersleben of the German Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the GDR in Berlin, from 1954 . He became head of the scientific department at the Institute for Grain Research at the Academy of Agricultural Sciences. For his outstanding achievements in breeding new types of grain, he received the first class national prize in 1976 and the second class national prize of the GDR in 1986. On October 7, 1989, he was honored as an outstanding scientist of the people . After the liquidation in 1991/2, he worked for Saatzucht Hadmersleben GmbH until 2004 .
