Dieter von der Nahmer

Dieter von der Nahmer (born May 2, 1937 in Solingen ) is a German historian .

Dieter von der Nahmer studied history and German in Munich, Göttingen and Freiburg. He received his doctorate in 1965 under Gerd Tellenbach with a thesis on the imperial administration in Tuscany under Friedrich I and Heinrich VI. After a long stay in Rome he taught from 1983 until his retirement as professor for medieval history at the history seminar of the University of Hamburg . Even after his retirement, he continued to teach at the University of Hamburg. Dieter von der Nahmer is particularly concerned with the saints and hagiography in the Middle Ages. He is married and lives in Ahrensburg .
