Dietrich Helmcke

Dietrich Helmcke (* 1941 ; † April 1, 2004 ) was a German geologist .

Life

Helmcke studied at the Philipps University of Marburg. In 1969 he submitted his dissertation on the geology of the Spuller-See-Mulde in the Northern Limestone Alps. Other regional focuses of his research were in Southeast Asia ( Thailand , Myanmar , Laos ) and Yunnan (China).

From 1988 Helmcke held the chair for applied geology and remote sensing at the Institute for Geology and Dynamics of the Lithosphere (IGDL) at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . Until 2004 he worked with the Federal Geological Institute in Vienna (Austria) on the geological survey of the Lechtal Alps (Reutte sheet).
