Diffuse light

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When diffused light is called the light guide is a "soft" light the scene uniformly and contrast - and low shadowing illuminates. Diffuse light is created with extensive light sources or through the use of a diffuser . This can be artificial light with light shapers such as umbrellas, softboxes or reflections on walls, but also natural light such as an overcast sky, fog or the light under trees. The technical relief organization often uses the "Powermoon" called light balloons .

Diffuse light reduces the contrasts caused by shadows and thus increases the importance of the colors of the motif for the composition of the picture. In portraits it reduces the appearance of wrinkles (beauty light), in factual photography it avoids highlights on reflective edges and deep, dark shadows.
