Dig Dug II is an arcade game , which in 1985 by Namco was made. The sequel wasn't as successful as its predecessor, Dig Dug .

description

You play as an alien-like character who has a pump and a drill. The player moves horizontally on an island and tries to avoid so-called "pookas" (round orange monsters that look like a ball) and fire-breathing dragons (Fygars). To kill the enemies you can either sink parts of the island on which the enemies are standing by drilling on the so-called "fault lines" with the drill or by inflating the enemies as in Dig Dug . There are many different levels and islands and the play area is viewed at an angle from the front or from above.

You lose a life when:

  • one is touched by pookas
  • one is burned by Fygar's fire
  • one falls off the island (runs over the edge of the island)

To inflate a monster you have to press the fire button 4 times - as with Dig Dug . Inflated monsters - if they are not inflated long enough - become normal monsters again and can attack the player again. However, if a monster falls into the water with a part of the island, it is definitely dead and can no longer attack. The same of course also applies to the player.

The graphics

This sequel to Dig Dug consists of 16-color sprites and a few melodies from the original game. For some it is addicting and great fun.
