A DigiFiz (short for Digi tales F Ahrer I nformation Z Entrum) is a digital tachometer with the liquid crystal screen . It was offered from 1986 as an extra (equipment code: 816) at Volkswagen for the Golf II and for the Jetta II . The manufacturer was VDO , which had developed two versions. Both versions differ in the speed display (GTI - up to 7,000 / min; 16V - 8,000 / min; red area from 6,400 or 7,125 / min).

features

The DigiFiz contains the following display fields:

  • digital speed display (from 0 to 255 km / h)
  • digital distance display (ends at 299,999 km, then 6 dashes - officially not resettable)
  • quasi-analogue speed display (from 0 to 7,000 / 8,000 / min; resolution 100/125 / min)
  • Quasi-analog coolant temperature display and coolant shortage warning (from 60 to 136 ° C; segments flash from 124 ° C)
  • Indicator lights
  • digital time clock (only visible when the ignition is switched on)
  • digital fuel level indicator with reserve indicator (from 3 to 55 l; display R (reserve) from 7 l)
  • Multi-function display ( MFA ) with memory displays and service display

Others

Since the DigiFiz was not part of the standard equipment and was otherwise rather poorly received, the distribution of new and replacement parts for this speedometer is very limited today.

At Audi, a DigiFiz was also offered as a special accessory in the 80/90 / Coupe (Type 81 and Type 85) models. It was built in several different versions and was manufactured throughout by Bosch Mobile Kommunikation.

Also at Opel were u. a. Digital speedometers installed in the (sport) models of the Kadett E series (e.g. GSI 16V models). The main difference to the DigiFiz was the still analog (mechanical) trip or total odometer. These displays are also displayed digitally on DigiFiz.
