Dilana
Dilana Smith (* 10. August 1972 in Johannesburg , South Africa , as Dilana Jansen van Vuuren ) is a South African rock singer .
Life
Dilana Jansen van Vuuren was adopted by her stepfather, her mother's new husband, at the age of two and was long known as Smith . During her school days, she took part in all the musical activities offered to her and became a member of the school and church choir. After finishing school, she focused on a singing career and was a member of various groups in South Africa and the Netherlands. As a background singer for the band Wozani , she had a number 1 hit in South Africa in 1996 with the single Dancing in the Moonlight . Her first solo album was released in 2000 with Wonderfool , which reached number 62 in the Dutch charts.
In 2006 she took part in the CBS broadcasting talent show Rock Star . Originally she was considered a favorite. But after a press conference in which she expressed herself disparagingly about her fellow campaigners, the audience's favor changed, so that in the end she was only voted in second place behind the Canadian musician Lukas Rossi .
