Dimitris Tsatsos Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dimitris Tsatsos Prize is awarded “for outstanding achievements in the field of European constitutional studies”. It was donated in memory of the Greek constitutional and European lawyer Dimitris Tsatsos , who died in 2010 .

The prize is awarded jointly by the Center for European Constitutional Law (CECL, Themistokles and Dimitris Tsatsos Foundation) in Athens and the Dimitris Tsatsos Institute for European Constitutional Studies (DTIEV) at the Distance University in Hagen .

With the non-endowed Dimitris Tsatsos Prize, the two institutes honor personalities who - like the award's namesake - have made an outstanding contribution to the unification of a democratic Europe through their scientific or political-practical work. It recognizes the entire work of a scientist in one or more disciplines that deal with constitutional development on a national and European level. In special cases, the award can also honor the conceptual and practical commitment to the unification and constitutionalization of Europe on a democratic basis.

The prize is usually awarded every two years, alternating between Hagen and Athens.
