Zigong Dinosaur Museum
The Zigong Dinosaur Museum ( Chinese 自貢恐龍博物館 / 自贡恐龙博物馆 , Pinyin Zigong kǒnglóng bówùguǎn ) is located in the greater community Dashanpu ( 大山鋪 ) in Zigong in the central Chinese province of Sichuan . It was founded in 1987 and is Asia's first museum to specialize in dinosaurs .
In the 1980s , a large number of dinosaur fossils were excavated in the Dashanpu Formation , seven kilometers northeast of Zigong, including a Dashanpusaurus dinosaur named after the site . The genera on display include Omeisaurus , Gigantspinosaurus , Yangchuanosaurus , Huayangosaurus and Xiaosaurus .
