Sinraptor is a genus of two-legged running ( bipedal ) dinosaurs from the group of carnosaurs .
A distinction is made between two types: The Sinraptor dongi species was found in 1993 in the Shishugou Formation from the Upper Jurassic of China .
The only skeleton found so far is missing large parts of the tail and arms, the rest is almost complete and well preserved. Sinraptor hepingensis , incorrectly described as Yangchuanosaurus hepingensis in 1992 , comes from the Upper Jurassic of Shangshaximiao. Sinraptor is very close to the genus Yangchuanosaurus , together they form the family Sinraptoridae .
Sinraptor dongi reached a body length of 7.2 meters, Sinraptor hepingensis was probably 8.5 meters long. The weight is given for S. dongi with about one ton, for Sinraptor hepingensis with 2.3 tons. Sinraptor's physique was similar to its related Allosaurus : He had three fingers on each hand and four toes including the small, non-floor hallux . His tail was stiffened and was probably used to keep his balance. The structure of his teeth suggests that he was a carnivore.
