from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dionysios Iambos ( Greek Διονύσιος ὁ Ἴαμβος ) was a Greek grammarian from Alexandria . He is known as the teacher of Aristophanes of Byzantium and as the author of a work περὶ διαλέκτων ("dialects"), which has not survived . His period of activity probably falls in the late 3rd century BC. The epithet ὁ Ἴαμβος ("the jamb poet") indicates that he also wrote poetry.
