Dionysios Zbirujski (Polish Dionizy Zbirujski , secular name Dmitri ; died November 18, 1603 , Chełm , Chełmer Land, Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania ) was an Orthodox Bishop of Chełm (1585–1596) and Uniate Bishop of Chełm (1596–1603).

Life

Dmitri grew up in Krasny Staw in what is now eastern Poland. He married Anna, a daughter of the future Bishop Zacharias von Chełm. He worked as a clerk in Krasny Staw.

At the end of 1585 he was first mentioned as Bishop of Chełm. He was the successor to Leontios, a brother of his wife. By this time he must have taken the monk's vows and theoretically separated from his wife. In 1592, however, members of the Orthodox Brotherhood in Lwów complained to Patriarch Jeremias II of Constantinople that he was living with a woman.

Bishop Dionysius took part in all Synods of the Ruthenian bishops since 1590 (except 1594) and signed all documents for the union with the Catholic Church in 1596. After that he was the first United Bishop of Chełm until his death. He was succeeded by another brother of his wife.
