Dippelsdorf (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dippelsdorf is a desert west of Ahlsdorf in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz . The former village lies in a valley on the upper reaches of the Dippelsbach, one of the source streams of the Evil Seven . The foundations of some houses can still be seen. It is said to have been a mining settlement that was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War or abandoned due to lack of water, or (according to legend) a monastery. Slag residues indicate mining operations.
