Dirk Adomat (* 26. October 1960 in Hameln ) is a German politician of the SPD and district administrator of the district of Hamelin-Pyrmont . From 2017 to 2020 he was a member of the 18th Lower Saxony state parliament.

Life

Dirk Adomat completed an apprenticeship as a tax assistant and in 1982 obtained the technical college entrance qualification at the technical college in Hameln. He then signed up for a number of years as a regular soldier before he began studying at the Lower Saxony University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice in 1986 . Three years later he finished his studies with a degree in administrative management.

From 1986 to 2017, Adomat worked in the Hameln-Pyrmont district , including in the social welfare office, in the combing department and as a training manager. In addition, he was a direct staff member of the then District Administrator Rüdiger Butte and most recently head of the Central Enforcement Authority for several years .

In his free time, Adomat works as a beekeeper and rower , among other things . He is married, has two children and lives in Hessisch Oldendorf .

politics

In 2001 Adomat joined the SPD. In the same year he was elected to the council of the city of Hessisch Oldendorf and the local council of Fischbeck / Weibeck. In the city council of Hessisch Oldendorf he has been chairman of the SPD city council faction and spokesman for the majority group there since 2004.

In the state elections in 2017 , Adomat was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament as a direct candidate for the SPD in the state electoral district of Hameln / Rinteln . There he is a member of the Committee on Environment, Energy, Building and Climate Protection, the Committee on Federal and European Affairs and Regional Development and the subcommittee on "Prison and Criminal Assistance". Adomat was spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group for building policy and inland fishing.

On April 5, 2020, Adomat was elected District Administrator of the Hameln-Pyrmont district. In the runoff election against Torsten Schulte ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) he won 51.14% of the vote. Thereupon Adomat renounced his mandate in the state parliament; On April 23, 2020, Minister of Culture Grant Hendrik Tonne replaced him in the state parliament.
