Dirk Bus
Dirk Bus (born December 5, 1907 in The Hague , Netherlands ; † June 10, 1978 there ) was a Dutch sculptor .
life and work
Dirk Bus studied at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten in The Hague and at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam . He was an art student with Bon Ingen-Housz and Jan Bronner and lecturer in sculpture at the Vrije Academie and the Haagse Academie . Bus had numerous well-known students, including the sculptor Kees Verkade .
Bus was chairman of the Pulchri Studio art association for many years and led the Nederlandse Kring van Beeldhouwers Amsterdam (German: Circle of Dutch Sculptors from Amsterdam ). He was a co-founder of the Verve artist group in The Hague. He sponsored numerous sculpting commissions in The Hague.
