Dirk Loomans

Dirk Loomans (* 1966 ) is a German business IT specialist. Since 2011 he has been a professor of business informatics in the economics department of the Mainz University of Applied Sciences (Rhineland-Palatinate) and board member of Loomans & Matz AG, a consultancy for information security , data protection and business continuity management .

Life

Loomans studied physics with a minor in computer science in Bayreuth and received his doctorate in theoretical polymer physics at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg in 1997 . After working as a development engineer at Siemens in the semiconductor sector , he took on the role of head of information security at Infineon Technologies. After the position of managing director of an Infineon development partner, he founded his own company in Mainz in 2001 . Loomans & Matz AG was founded in 2005. As a consultancy in the areas of information security, data protection and business continuity, the company is now active nationally and internationally. Lecturer at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences since 2006, Loomans took over a professorship for business informatics in the business department in September 2011. In addition, he leads seminars at the TÜV Rheinland Academy on the subject of information security and works actively in the Information Security Forum (ISF). Since 2014 he has also been a reviewer for the European Commission in the EU framework program for research and innovation, Horizon 2020 .

politics

In 2010, with the support of the CDU and the ödp , he applied for the office of full-time assistant to the Department for Economics, Urban Development, Real Estate and Public Order (Dec III) of the City of Mainz. However, he was subject to the candidate of the traffic light coalition Christopher Sitte.
