The Dish Network Corporation is an American television satellite operator for receiving satellite television and the Internet via satellite . For this purpose, the company also markets corresponding set-top boxes and hard disk recorders from the “Hopper” and “DISH anywhere” brands as well as the portable satellite antenna Tailgater.

DISH Network was founded in 1996 by Charles Ergen , Jim DeFranco and Candy Ergen and is based in Meridian , ( Douglas County ), Colorado, USA. In 2011, the company employed around 34,000 people and had sales of $ 14.27 billion.

On January 2, 2008, the Dish Network business was separated from the rest of the EchoStar business , creating two companies: the DISH Network Corporation (consisting essentially of the DISH Network business) and the Echostar Corporation (which includes the technology business the satellite, sling media, and set-top box development reserves).
