Degree of dissipation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The degree of dissipation δ (Greek: delta) or D is the measure of the “lost” or dissipated intensity . Its value is between 0 and 1.

The degree of dissipation is related to several other quantities that describe the behavior of radiation in a medium.

These quantities are related via the following relationships:

ρ + α = 1
ρ + τ + δ = 1
α = τ + δ
