Dissolver

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A dissolver is a disc stirrer that is mainly used in the paint and varnish industry, chemical industry and plastics industry for dispersion . Here, pigment powder is dispersed in a binder , the function of the dissolver being to break up agglomerates made up of primary particles.

functionality

A toothed stirrer disk is attached to a vertical stirrer shaft and is dipped into the product to be dispersed. If the disc starts rotating, shear forces arise that break up the agglomerates.

For a sufficiently high power transmission, the size ratio of the agitator disk and agitator container, as well as the speed and fill level must be observed. Ideal dispersion is achieved when a toroidal flow pattern is created in the product (so-called donut effect ).
