The spacer screw is a fastening screw used in drywall construction . There is a row with two spaced threads provided wood screw . Both threads have different diameters but the same pitch . The distance between the two threads allows two parts with a mutual distance ( distance ) to be connected to one another without an additional spacer sleeve having to be placed in between. With such screws z. B. the wooden slats of a ventilated room cladding ( paneling , plasterboard, etc.) attached at a distance in the wall. The outer thread has the larger diameter so that the inner part of the screw (often with the dowel already in place ) can be inserted through a hole in the lath. When turning the i. Usually a headless screw (with a hexagon socket or similar) turns the inner thread into the dowel in the wall and the outer thread into the lath. Their distance is guaranteed with an element temporarily held in between (e.g. a piece of roof batten ). The outer thread cannot act as a screw head and push the bar in front of it, but has to cut into it.
