Adjusting screws are wood screws used in drywall construction , with which z. B. wooden slats can be attached to a wall at an adjustable small distance. They have sawtooth-shaped grooves under the screw head, which dig into the wood in such a way that there is an axial form fit between the screw and the lath. This means that the screw can no longer move in its longitudinal direction in relation to this wood. If such a screw is then rotated, it only moves axially in the wall or in the dowel located therein. The distance between the lath and wall can thus be set ( adjusted ) in a targeted manner.

Screws to adjust to devices and machines are often set screws (or adjusting called). However, they are not screws in a special design, but normal screws with a metal thread , the only special feature of which is that they are equipped with a fine thread (makes the adjustment more sensitive).
