The divis

The Divis ( Irish Dubhais ) is a 478 meter high mountain west of the city of Belfast in Northern Ireland . The mountain is mostly covered by moors . Together with Black Mountain to the southeast, it shapes the horizon of the area and offers a wide view of the entire region.

Until 2005, the Divis was a restricted military area due to its strategic importance. After that, the area was given to the National Trust and has been accessible ever since.

To the southeast of the summit is the Divis transmitter , one of the most important transmission systems for coverage in Northern Ireland
