Serena is a young and beautiful Italian woman who was adopted by a wealthy Italian father and mother when she was a child. When she found herself stuck in an arranged marriage, she runs away to the Philippines, a country that has fascinated her since she was little of the stories she heard from her Filipina nanny and the stories her pen pals spoke from the Philippines about. There she meets and falls in love with her pen pal, Tenten, a poor hardworking boy from Tondo who was forced to take unconventional jobs for his family.
