The Dolmen Lletty'r Filiast

The Dolmen Lletty'r Filiast (also Lair or Grave of the Greyhound Bitch or Llandudno Burial Chamber) is located at the foot of the peninsula near Llandudno in Conwy in Wales . Llety'r Filiast is the remainder of a Neolithic portal tomb on the slopes of the Great Orme above Llandudno. In the British Isles, portal tombs are megalithic systems in which two equally high, upright stones with a door stone in between form the front of a chamber, which is covered with a sometimes huge capstone. His middle name means: the bite of the greyhound bitch.

It was built before the Bronze Age people worked in the nearby copper mines . The chamber is about 2.1 m long and 1.5 m high. It is in the remains of a cairn that once covered the chamber.

The megalithic complex has suffered over the past centuries. The capstone is smashed and the bearing stones seem to have shifted from their original position.

Lletty'r Filiast is a Scheduled Monument .
