Dolmen de la Font del Roure

The Dolmen de la Font del Roure ( Catalan for "Dolmen at the oak spring") is one of the 11 dolmens of Espolla in the province of Girona in Catalonia in Spain not far from the border with France. The dolmen is about 4.5 km from the city center and about 500 meters from the source that gives it its name.

It is a gallery grave that was archaeologically examined in 1920 and 1971 and restored in 1995. Its chamber, antechamber and passage were built from granite slabs and dry stone masonry . It dates to the Neolithic (3500-3200 BC). The artificial hill and parts of its stone cover have been preserved. Inside were a lot of broken pottery, flint, and a greenstone necklace.
