Dolmen de la Madeleine d'Albesse
The Dolmen de la Madeleine d'Albesse is a small south-west-north-east oriented gallery grave made of local sandstone slabs , east of Monze in the middle of the Aude department in France .
It is about 5.0 m long and 1.2 m wide. The oval hill has a diameter of about 25 m. The northward corridor is off-center. The 2.70 × 2.8 m measuring 0.3 m thick capstone lies on the west side of the hill. The largest orthostat stands on the side, is about 1.8 m high and has a square cross-section.
The Allée couverte was examined in 1891. Bones and two lanceolate arrowheads with a flat bottom made of flint and horn were found. A lancet is shaped like a bay leaf , both of which are well retouched around the edges. Another investigation by Jean Guilaine led to the discovery of two round, finely polished buttons made of bone, one with traces of painting.
