Dolmen du Genevrier

The Dolmen du Genévrier (also called Dolmen de Nauquiès or Dolmen de Noquies ) is located in Salles-la-Source near Rodez in the Aveyron department in France . The village of Salles-la-Source is one of the richest in prehistoric monuments in France with 66 burial mounds or dolmens on the 78 km² municipal area. In France, dolmen is the generic term for megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The almost complete remains of the approximately 5.0 meter long and 1.5 meter wide rectangular chamber lie sunk in the middle of the hill. Only the eastern, smaller half of the in situ capstone is missing . The undamaged chamber may have consisted of seven or eight stone slabs. The cairn is about 25 m in diameter and up to 4.0 meters high.

The heavily damaged Dolmen de Jasse Rouge is 75 m to the south. The dolmens in the Aveyron often occur in groups and 92% of all dolmens are made of limestone slabs .
