The Dolmen du Rat is located about northwest of Saint-Sulpice in the Lot department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ).

The Dolmen du Rat is a "dolmen simple" that has kept its cairn with a diameter of about 13.0 meters to a large extent. The cairn is made of large stones. A wall of flat stones, between 0.85 and 0.9 meters high, partially encloses the hill.

The rectangular east-west oriented chamber is formed by four massive plates, which were sunk about 0.2 meters into the ground. The two side panels measure approximately 3.3 × 1.1 and 3.25 × 1.0 m and are 15 and 35 cm thick. The end plate measures approximately 1.15 × 0.8 × 0.1 m and the ceiling plate approximately 4.0 × 2.8 × 0.22 m. A plate of 1.3 × 0.9 × 0.1 m, which lay on the surface of the mound, corresponds in its dimensions to the chamber opening and probably closed the dolmen. The floor of the chamber was covered by a massive slab of about 1.95 × 1.0 meters, which was supplemented with a plaster in the manner of Opus incertum . Four stones (0.50 × 0.20 × 0.25 m) formed a threshold stone .

The specific feature of this dolmen is a triangular, non-image stele (0.80 × 0.38 × 0.13 meters) that leans (displaced) within the chamber against the left supporting stone. The presence of such steles is rare: Dolmen du Roucadour in Thémines, Dolmen de Pech d'Arsou in Corn.

The dolmen "La Combe du Rat" is located near Argelliers in the Hérault.
