Moncalm dolmen

The dolmens of Moncalm 1 to 5 and 7 (also called Saint Paul la Close ) are located in the woods of the hamlet of La Cabane, west of Saint-Jean-du-Pin and Alès in the Gard department in France . In France, dolmen is the generic term for Neolithic megalithic structures of all kinds (see: French nomenclature ). They are called dolmens, but are mostly stone boxes .

  1. Moncalm 1 (also called Saint-Jean-du-Pin Dolmen 8 ) is a large approximately 5.0 m long dolmen in the remains of its cairn on the edge of the cliff that has been restored. Part of the ceiling slab was replaced.
  2. Moncalm 2 (also called Saint-Jean-du-Pin Dolmen 9 ) is a dolmen in the remains of its cairn.
  3. Moncalm 3 (also called Moncalm C or Saint-Jean-du-Pin Coffre 1 ) is a stone box, of which only side panels have been preserved, in the remains of its cairn.
  4. Moncalm 4 (also called Cupules de Moncalm or Saint-Jean-du-Pin Coffre 3 ) is a well-preserved stone box with bowls preserved in the top panels .
  5. Moncalm 5 (also called Saint-Jean-du-Pin Coffre 5 ) is a relatively well-preserved stone box in the remains of its cairn.
  6. Moncalm 7 (also called Saint-Jean-du-Pin Coffre 7 ) is a relatively well-preserved stone box in the remains of its cairn.
