Domain name registrar
A domain name registrar is an organization or a company that registrations of Internet domains performs.
Depending on the top-level domain, the registrar is accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) or a Domain Name Registry . He thus acts as an agent for the services of a registry and acts as the sole contractual partner for end customers ( registrants ), in particular also taking on the billing of the costs for a domain. Occasionally, a registry also operates a registrar itself, usually in the form of a subsidiary such as SWITCH or CORE . Usually, however, a registrar is an Internet service provider who also sells other services such as web hosting in a package with domains.
